Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology

Education Students

You are welcome to the Department of Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology in the Faculty of Education, University of Benin. The Department offers Post Graduate programmes at the Masters and Doctorate levels in Measurement and Evaluation and Counselling Psychology. The Post Graduate Programmes are designed to produce the crop of professionals equipped with specialized knowledge and skills to meet the demands of the 21st century especially the needs of labour market in Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology.

The Department of EPCS which had housed these Postgraduate Programme is defunct now, and our New Department Educational Evaluation Counselling Psychology (EECP) which started in 2014/2015 academic year continues with its old Post Graduate programmes in the two broad areas Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology.

We have the staff strength of Twenty Seven (27) staff members, of these Nineteen (19) are Academic staff and Eight (8) are non-Academic Staff. We shall soon commence the Counselling Psychology degree programme at undergraduate level as we have past graduate students at both Masters and Doctorate degree levels. We also hope to include Programmes in Educational Psychology and Special Education.

Most of our graduates from this Department are highly proficient and confident scholars and gain employment in renowned establishments within and outside Nigeria and can function as experts in their fields of specialization. Our products are Information Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and technologically equipped. We encourage our students to be studious and soar high to achieve their desired goal and have a fulfilling career.

One of the major Objectives of the Department is to produce knowledgeable scholars who will provide leadership on professional Practice and intellectual Competence in the Education Sector.
